MTC Week 3

Family!

Despite all of the chaos I hope that you are all having a good week! This week more sister missionaries entered the MTC than elders! Only by 3 but still :) that's exciting.

On Tuesday night we got to sing "Nearer My God to Thee" in the devotional and it was a great experience. The devotional was given by Elder W. of the 70 and he talked about the importance of reading the Book of Mormon with our investigators. So this week Sister L. and I taught a new investigator--Alejandra--she's just an actor. But we read 1 Nephi 1 with her and pointed out different parts of the chapter that have the main points from lesson 1 (the Restoration) in it and she loved it! Then we taught her a second time this week and invited her to be baptized and she said yes! It's going great! You really learn to rely on the Spirit for everything--what to teach and how to say it in Spanish.

We also got to teach little lessons to member volunteers in Spanish this week so Sister L. and I decided to talk about love. One of the members we taught was this sweet little old lady and she ended up teaching us. Haha it was awesome. She decided to learn Spanish as a grandma and she's really good at it.

Brian, who we've been teaching for about 2 weeks now, accepted an invitation to be baptized. Most of our investigators (like Daniel and Alejandra) are teachings playing the role of an investigator. And most other investigators we teach are member volunteers. But Brian is legitimately a real investigator who only speaks Spanish and like oh my gosh he wants to be baptized!!! That is so exciting! He was having a lot of trouble understanding how the atonement is a hopeful thing. After our lesson with him on Tuesday he found a video about the atonement that really helped him and on Thursday we watched the video with him and he just was so excited to tell us that he understood that the atonement brings hope! And we invited him to be baptized and he said yes! His sister is a member so he hopefully went to church with her yesterday. We will find out tomorrow! Ahh!

The other district in our branch left this week and so now we are the only district in our branch/zone. We aren't getting any new missionaries this Wednesday so we'll be alone for a while. It's weird haha.

Yesterday we went to choir practice I had a mishap with my falda and one of those chairs where the seat folds up. Only Hermana C. noticed so it's okay because she had a serious mishap with her falda last Sunday at the templo.

Since I'm the Sister Training Leader I have a cell phone which is weird because it's only for emergencies and so I have to carry it around but I don't use it. But #technology

The food here was good at first and then alright and now it's like weird. Sister Winn has had some serious bodily repercussions because of the food. Every Saturday night and Tuesday night the wife of member of our branch presidency stops by our residence to check on us. And Hermana Winn told her about her problems and it was super awkward! I think she scared the old lady. Speaking of, the elders in our branch who just left for the field played this secret game and we never new what it was. Well we found out. They try to see who can fart the loudest in front of a Sister without her noticing. WTH. Boys are weird.

Speaking of Hermana W., she and I have started running together everyday (except Sunday and Monday because we don't have gym) and literally I think my legs are going to fall off. They hurt so much and my companeras make fun of me for walking funny haha.

Hermana L. and I sit on the side of our classroom across from the window and almost everyday we see cute little pajaros outside on the arboles and it's super cute but the other day we were standing up to sing and a bird just hit the window and fell on the ground :O

The word in Spanish for sin is pecado which is really close to the word for fish--pescado. Sister C. and Sister W. taught that the atonement will help wash away your fish haha.

Things are going great! I finally got a nap, it was for like 20 minutes today after we came back from the temple and my companeras took a picture of me sleeping! Haha.

Just remember that whatever you do in life, do your very best.

Hermana Martin
