June 22nd

Dear Family,

This was a great week! On Monday it snowed a whole bunch right after we left the ciber! We made snowmen and had snowball fights outside the church with the Zona! It was really fun, but cold. Hermana Johnson and I bought matching red rainboots because of all the ice, snows, and puddles.

This week we had divisions with the sister training leaders from Ushuaia, Hermana Zanuttini and Hermana Xoj Baj. That´s always fun!

As you can see in the pictures, Hermana Johnson and I are always learning how to cook haha. You really do learn all sorts of things on the mission. We made empanadas and they were sooo good. We also like to make homemade syrup because syrup isn´t a thing here. We call it maple but with a latino accent.

One of our investigators taught us how to crochet beanies and so we made some and they are so cute! It´s cold so that should help us keep warmer.

We had Zone Conference this week with President. It was really good and we learned a lot. Sister Rogers talked to us about sacrifices that the pioneers made when they were traveling to Salt Lake in the dead of winter. Made us feel a little bad about complaining about the cold weather. But, we are building Zion down here, too!

This week, the pension of the hermanas serving in Comodoro burned down. It happened in the middle of the night and they ran out in their pajamas. They lost everything--fotos, money, letters, clothes, shoes, scriptures EVERYTHING. It was crazy, especially because President and Hermana Rogers were down here on the island when it happened. Hay que tener cuidado.

I love you all and hope that you all are enjoying the summer! Thanks for the emails!

Love,
Katie

  1. Katie, those empanadas look GREAT. You'll be making those for all of us before you know it! That's the kind of thing you'll make for your family too. I can just hear your children begging for.
