5/16

Dear Family,

This morning we went hiking with our zone to see a lagoon! It was way fun but super cold. The lagoon was frozen over. It was scary hiking because it was pretty dangerous. We were hiking for about 8 hours overall. We were hiking over ice and had to work together as a team to make our way up and then make our way down again. On really rough parts of the trail we used a rope. There was an elder at each end of the rope and several along the sides to help us make our way safely. We would help each other know where to step and get out of difficult situations. When someone fell we would help them up. All of us fell at one point haha! It was a great bonding experience for our zone. We really learned how to work together. It made me understand the importance of trusting in each other. Our leaders are here to guide us. To help us know where to step. To guide us on a safe path and avoid the dangers around us. We need to choose wisely our friends. They should be people who help us maintain our standards and stay on the right path. We, too, should help our friends along the path to safely return to our Father in Heaven!

Yesterday  church was awesome! Two of our investigators came--Luis and Ricardo. After church we set up a baptismal date with Ricardo! It`s all a crazy story. Ricardo has been investigating the church for several months. He`s been invited to be baptized several times but has always said no because he hadn`t received an answer that the church was trueWe figured that something he was missing was the Book of Mormon. We read chapter 1 with him and then challenged him to read 15 chapters! We hadn`t planned to do that. Well he came to church on Sunday and had read 13 chapters! We were very surprised when he started talking about Nephi and all of these stories! He loved it. The class in Sunday School just happened to be about baptism which was perfect haha. Later, when we asked him to be baptized, he said yes. He said that he could feel that it was all true today during church and that now all he needed was to make the decision to get baptized. We set up a baptismal date for June 18th because he is going to Buenos Aires for a few weeks. so he will get baptized a few weeks after he gets back!

I know that this church is true and that the Book of Mormon is a powerful book. It really is the word of God. It has influenced my life and helped me make important decisions just as it has influenced the life of everyone who reads it. I love this gospel and I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ. I testify that God loves us! He knows what we need. He wants us to be happy.

Thank you all for your love and support! I hope you enjoy your week! Happy birthday to Tanner and Uncle Conrad in a couple of days!

Love,
Katie
